How to become a Master Gardener?
• We offer day and night classes to accommodate retired and working day applicants. • Applications will be available now! Training is usually conducted from September to November on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to noon plus 3 selected Saturday mornings (for the day class) and from August to November on Wednesday nights from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm plus 3 selected Saturday mornings (for the night class).
Contact us at VCE or NNMGA (Newport News Master Gardener Association) for a copy of the application. The total fees in 2019 were $150 (if paid by June 1st, 2019) and $160 (if paid after June 1st, 2019) to be made payable to the Newport News Master Gardeners c/o VCE-Newport News if you live in Newport News.
As a Extension Master Gardener Intern in Newport News, you will be required to volunteer 50 hours in approved programs in your first year and 20 volunteer hours (plus 8 continuing education hours) in subsequent years.
