Kelsey Kennedy: FCS SNAP-Ed Extension Agent

Kelsey Kennedy is a Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS), SNAP-Ed Extension Agent based in Newport News, and also serving the areas of Hampton, James City, New Kent, Charles City, Prince George, and York counties. She recruits, trains, and manages volunteers to deliver evidence-based nutrition curricula to limited income youth and families. Kelsey earned a Masters of Public Health degree from University of New England in Portland, ME and a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Her previous work experience includes conducting nutrition assessments and evaluations, providing one-on-one nutrition counseling, and instructing group nutrition education classes for limited resource families as a Nutritionist with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Other work experience includes planning, implementing, and evaluating youth and adult recreation programs with a focus on health and wellness programming as a Recreation Supervisor. She is particularly interested in opportunities for community collaboration and building partnerships. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys traveling, hiking, kayaking, playing basketball, and listening to live music.
